Dancer & Choreographer
Spencer James Weidie was born in California and was raised Kailua, HI. They began dancing at 24-VII DanceForce under Marcelo Pacleb and went on to train at the University of Hawaii at Manoa before graduating Cum Laude from The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, SUNY with a BFA in Dance and a concentration in Composition. They also studied at London Contemporary Dance School, Springboard Danse Montréal, and with the Merce Cunningham Trust.
Spencer has performed works by Andrea Miller, Brian Brooks, Doug Varone, Larry Keigwin, José Limón, Kimberly Bartosik, Merce Cunningham, Noe Soulier, Sharon Eyal, Trisha Brown, and Ohad Naharin. Spencer is a current company member with the Trisha Brown Dance Company under the directon of Carolyn Lucas. They have also danced with Brian Brooks/Moving Company, Gallim, MADBOOTS Dance and have been with The Metropolitan Opera since 2018.
Alongside their concert dance experience, Spencer has performed Off-Broadway in Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More and most recently made their Broadway Debut as Dance Captain/Swing in Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.
Spencer is also a choreographer whose work has been commissioned by Breaking the Binary Theatre and presented by Future Dance Festival, NEWSTEPS at Chen Dance Center, Spoke The Hub, and NACHMO Dance.
Spencer is currently available for performing and choreographic engagements.
